Apple received its first Golden Globe nominations this past Monday December 9th from the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) for its hit drama, “The Morning Show.” A first for a streaming service in its launch year, the Golden Globe nominations include dual nominations for Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series, Drama for both Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon who both play protagonists in the show and serve as executive producers as well. The final awards will be decided and presented at the 77th Annual Golden Globe Awards on January 5, 2020.

The nominations are highly prized in the television industry and are even more notable considering that Apple tv+ launched just one month ago on November 7th. These nominations are also the first drama TV actress nominations for both Aniston and Witherspoon.

The Golden Globe nominations received by Apple include:

Best TV Series - Drama - “The Morning Show”

Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series - Drama - Jennifer Aniston in “The Morning Show”

Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series - Drama - Reese Witherspoon in “The Morning Show”

Thank you to the Hollywood Foreign Press Association for today’s historic nominations. After the debut of Apple TV+ just last month, today’s nominations are a true testament to the powerful storytelling that went into ‘The Morning Show,’ as well as all of our Apple Originals.

What a beautiful morning for ‘The Morning Show!’ Feeling grateful to be able to bring this story to light alongside a most brilliant group of artists — our cast and crew who worked passionately from their hearts and souls to continue the conversation of power, greed and toxicity in the workplace. It is an important time, and a privilege, to be able to tell stories and create art that reflects the times we are living in. Thank you HFPA for this incredible honor and for also recognizing Jennifer and Reese. Working with them is a dream come true. Kerry, Michael and I are blown away!

Timely and resonating with audiences worldwide, “The Morning Show” explores the world of morning news and of the people who help America wake up every day through the lens of the lives of two professional working women who have high-pressure jobs and numerous crises in their lives. The drama offers an unparalleled honest view of power dynamics in the workplace, exploring how men and women interact in the cutthroat world of morning news. The show also has an outstanding cast that portrays both the big and subtle moments in the lives of the morning news team.

You can watch “The Morning Show” exclusively on Apple TV+ on the Apple TV app. New episodes come out every Friday. The season finale premieres on Friday, December 20th. “The Morning Show” is one of several Apple Originals, new content created at Apple by a diverse range of voices available on Apple TV+. Apple recently launched its long anticipated Apple tv+ streaming service available through Apple tv on November 1st. Headlining the company’s foray into digital content and storytelling is a star-studded hour-long drama titled “The Morning Show” featuring Jennifer Aniston (Friends, Murder Mystery) and Reese Witherspoon (Legally Blonde, Walk the Line and Cruel Intentions) facing off as the two anchors of a daily morning news show.

Just $4.99 per Month and Free for One Year for New Apple Product Purchases

Affordably priced at just $4.99 per month for a family subscription, coming in lower than Netflix’s existing $8.99 per month for an individual user and up to $16.99 for a larger family with multi-use options, and lower than the new Disney+ at $7.99 per month, Apple tv+ puts Apple squarely in the middle of the content streaming wars dominated by bigger players. Also any Apple customer who purchases a new iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, iPod touch or Mac can enjoy one free year of service.
