Apple’s Possible Open AI integration with iOS 18 is Eagerly Anticipated

Apple’s week-long WWDC conference (WWDC24) kicks off June 10th at 10 a.m. PDT with Keynote address. The annual online conference occurs next week from June 10 to June 14, offering a stimulating week of technology and innovation.

Bringing together the global Apple developer community with insights into the latest technologies, tools, and frameworks coming to iOS, iPadOS, macOS, tvOS, visionOS, and watchOS, the week-long event unites developers with Apple’s engineers, designers, and other experts.

Developers and enthusiasts are curious to see if Apple will be incorporating OpenAI into iOS18 while Siri gets up to speed at WWDC24.

WWDC offers more than 100 technical sessions, in-depth consultations, and live forums.

Here’s the itinerary for the week below:

Apple Keynote: June 10, 10 a.m. PDT
WWDC24 begins with its Keynote address, highlighting all the major updates coming to Apple platforms later in the year.

Platforms State of the Union: June 10, 1 p.m. PDT
The Platforms State of the Union offers a more in-depth overview of the latest advances across iOS, iPadOS, macOS, tvOS, visionOS, and watchOS, and new tools for Apple developers.

Beyond these two essential sessions, WWDC24 offers access to experts and over 100 technical sessions over the course of the week where Apple developers can have direct insights from Apple engineers, designers, and other experts for a deeper dive into the latest technologies and frameworks. Members of the Apple Developer Program and Apple Developer Enterprise Program can connect directly with Apple experts through consultations and online labs for tailored guidance and support.

Every year, Apple supports students via its Swift Student Challenge program. 2024’s WWDC celebrates 50 Distinguished Winners for their outstanding submissions. These students will visit Apple Park for a three-day experience with special activities throughout the week of WWDC.

Apple’s annual Design Awards are also announced and celebrated at WWDC every year, highlighting the craft, creativity, and technical expertise that developers bring to their work in app and game design.

Netflix Turns 25 Today

Netflix turned 25 years old today — a significant milestone for a company that started out with a DVD mail subscription in 1999 and grew over the years into a movie-streaming behemoth.

Known for bringing movies and TV shows to fans worldwide, Netflix, the popular streaming network, founded on August 29, 1997 by Reed Hastings and Mark Randolph, celebrates 25 years today. The company only launched its website www.netflix.com on April 14, 1998. Netflix first began modestly with mailing out red and white DVD envelopes and quickly endeared itself to a public tired of high movie rental fees. The company brought in over 200k subscribers who also were fans of its recommendation engine.

The company’s popularity led to its own slogan “Netflix and chill” where you would invite a friend or significant other to enjoy a movie at your home. The massive popularity of streaming videos and TV shows at home, on an app and in an browser, can be attributed in some part due to the popularity of Netflix who made watching entertainment convenient, familiar, and accessible at any time.

As of 2019, the company has shipped over 5 billion DVDS. The first DVD that Netflix shipped was Beetlejuice in March 1998 starring Winona Ryder, who also stars in the popular show Stranger Things. By 2007, Netflix started offering streaming options. By 2016, Netflix went live in 130 countries. Squid Watch is the most watched show on Netflix.

When Netflix reached its 500,000th subscription, the company invited the subscriber to a company meeting and gave the person a lifetime subscription. Today Netflix is available in 37 languages in 190 countries around the world and has 28 offices.

$NFLX has dominated streaming for a decade. Now it faces stiff competition from Disney+, AppleTV, Paramount Plus, HBO Max and more. Netflix today offers its own storytelling options at scale tailored to markets around the world.

Today, Netflix continues to innovate and influence cultural moments around the globe.

Today Apple has over 1.5 billion devices in use from iPhones to iPads, watches and more in use by over a billion people on the planet. Given we have over seven billion people on Earth, that puts Apple in the hands of one in seven people on the planet. These devices drive Apple’s business. While purchase of these devices, in particular iPhones, heralded a new age for Apple starting in 2007, today Apple’s services offered through these devices whether it is Fitness+ or Apple Music or even device care through Apple Care, drive the most revenue that is increasing every year.
